Abstract

With Chinese students becoming the main force among international students in the UK, mental health issues caused by their academic and job-related stress are becoming increasingly prominent. This article uses a literature review to introduce the sources of stress faced by Chinese students in the UK in their work and workplace, the consequences for their mental health, the mechanisms of influence, and effective adjustment strategies. In addition to provide factual support for the development of Chinese student retention strategies and mental health services, it aims to give them a theoretical foundation and helpful advice for enhancing their job happiness. The following three major points are mostly made in the article: 1) Job-related stress and workplace mental health are threats to the majority of Chinese students studying in the UK; 2) There is a correlation between job-related stress and workplace mental health among Chinese students studying in the UK, with higher job-related stress resulting in poorer mental health in the workplace; 3) Enhancing individual professional language skills, creating social support networks, and advocating for inclusive policies can regulate and improve these international students' job satisfaction. This article helps people understand the unique workplace challenges faced by Chinese international students, promotes their physical and mental health, career success, and quality of life, deepens understanding of cross-cultural stress and occupational psychology, and advances theoretical development.
